From long-term project experience, we see miscellaneous steel detailing drawings frequently overlooked, despite their direct impact on fabrication and installation accuracy. Late design inputs, weak coordination, or unclear miscellaneous steel shop drawings often surface as site rework rather than review comments.
We are interested in how others manage this risk. Are miscellaneous steel drawings reviewed with the same rigor as primary steel, and what steps have proven effective in minimizing rework?
Although not all SITs originate from various steel detailing drawings, in my experience, ambiguous or missing details frequently lead to problems on the job site, particularly when it comes to connections, dimensions, or coordination with other trades. Avoiding delays and rework is greatly aided by strict quality control, precise dimensions, and early clash checks.
