From what I’ve seen on a few projects, BEPs are usually well-defined in terms of scope, LOD, and coordination workflows, but when it comes to data, things start breaking down pretty quickly.
Even with structured BIM Services in place, parameter usage, naming, and classification often end up inconsistent across teams. Models look fine visually, but the data isn’t reliable enough for downstream use like FM or asset tracking.
Personally, it feels like BEPs are still more process-focused than data-focused.
Would like to hear how others are handling this, are you enforcing data standards through BEPs, or managing it separately during execution?
Many BEPs claim to manage BIM data effectively, but in reality, some only fulfill formal requirements, lacking true coordination, data accuracy, and collaborative integration across project stakeholders.
