Overview:
MBBS admissions for the year 2022 are now open at China Medical University (CMU) located in Shenyang city, Liaoning. Although founded in the city of Ruijin in Jiangxi province in 1931, CMU has since relocated to Shenyang, offering an intriguing blend of historical roots and modern facilities. Shenyang’s proximity to Beijing, historically significant as both the North and South Capital of China, renders it economically, culturally, and politically vibrant, providing an enriching student life. The city boasts a pleasant climate, making it an attractive destination for international students.
CMU stands out as one of China’s premier universities, earning an A grade from the World Health Organization (WHO). Renowned for its medical education, CMU ranks among the top medical universities in China, offering a comprehensive MBBS program tailored to international students’ needs. With over six decades of teaching experience, CMU delivers high-quality education at an affordable cost, supported by the Chinese government.
The MBBS program at CMU attracts a diverse student body, with over 8,000 Indian students enrolled in various universities across China. CMU alone hosts more than 400 Indian students, reflecting its popularity among Indian learners. The university boasts an impressive 38% success rate in the MCI screening test, indicating its commitment to academic excellence.
Shenyang’s climate mirrors India’s for nine months of the year, with three months resembling the pleasant weather of Himachal Pradesh. Additionally, CMU’s fee structure offers affordability without compromising on quality education. Recognizing CMU’s value proposition, Indian students seeking an MBBS abroad should consider CMU among their top choices.
For students contemplating their educational journey, pursuing a medical postgraduate program in Germany after completing MBBS in China offers a promising career trajectory. However, opting for BDS in China may not be advisable due to higher costs compared to India and quality differences in learning experiences. Overall, CMU stands as an attractive option for Indian students seeking a reputable and affordable medical education abroad.

Reserve a Seat in MBBS Abroad Admission 2022-23:
In 2016, many students were awaiting the NEET 2 exam. Unfortunately, waiting for NEET 2 results can lead to missed deadlines for applications to MCI-approved MBBS programs abroad, resulting in a wasted year. MOKSH offers an innovative solution by reserving your seat and providing an admission letter as your Plan B. If you gain admission through NEET 2, you won’t need to attend your chosen university for MBBS abroad. However, if you don’t make it, your backup plan is ready. This option is particularly beneficial for students who have already secured medical seats. Important points to note:
Private medical college fees have increased by nearly 50%, reaching around Rs. 75 lakhs for the full course. Admission to private medical colleges is only available to the top 2-3% of NEET 2 takers. Preparing solely for state boards can make preparing for NEET in 2023 very challenging. Reserving a seat requires only university application fees; no additional payment is needed. Simply reserve a seat in an MCI-approved MBBS program abroad according to your budget and relax.
Medical Education in China
China has emerged as a rising destination for Indian students. Traditionally, the US and UK have been the favored choices due to prestigious institutions like Harvard, Oxford, MIT, and Cambridge consistently ranking in the top 10. However, they now face competition from the rapidly expanding higher education sector in Asia, particularly in China. In a significant achievement, China surpassed the US in the 2021 CWTS Leiden Ranking, featuring more universities in the ranking for the first time.
In the same year, China became the fourth-largest recipient of international students globally, with over 450,000 students. By 2024, this number had increased to 530,000. Specifically concerning medicine, the question arises: is pursuing an MBBS in China worthwhile for international students? Many are actively searching for the best medical universities in China catering to international students. Since 2018, the government has permitted admission to only 45 MBBS universities in China for international students.
Do Chinese Medical Schools Adhere to NMC Regulations?
It is crucial to ascertain whether one can practice in India after completing an MBBS in China. Up until 2018, over 214 medical universities accepted students into medical programs (MBBS) and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) programs in English and Mandarin. Many Indian agents attempted to enroll students in the TCM program instead of the MBBS program. In 2019, the Chinese Government granted permission for international students to exclusively enroll in English-taught MBBS programs.
While the Medical Council of India (MCI) previously recognized 45 medical universities in China offering English-taught programs, the establishment of the National Medical Commission (NMC) eliminated the need for a specific list of NMC-recognized medical colleges in China. Instead, all 45 medical universities in China now adhere to the NMC’s regulations. In other words, you can confidently pursue your MBBS studies at any of these institutions without concerns about their recognition status.
While pursuing MBBS, students come to realize the significance of specializing in a particular field. They also become acutely aware of the competitiveness associated with securing an MD/MS seat in a government college. Examining the success ratio for obtaining a postgraduate (PG) seat in government medical colleges in India, which is approximately 11%, it becomes evident that only 1 out of 10 students will secure a PG seat. Furthermore, the odds of obtaining a clinical specialty are even more stringent, with only 1 out of 20 applicants succeeding. The journey toward PG specialization proves to be challenging, and students often need substantial financial resources to secure a paid seat in a private medical college, often requiring amounts in crores.
