Studying MBBS in Egypt

Since 2019, MBBS in Egypt has garnered popularity among Indian students. Egyptian medical schools confer an MBBCh (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) as the foundational medical degree. This entails five years of academic and clinical studies, followed by two mandatory years of clinical rotations. The issuance of the MB BCh degree occurs upon completion of these rotations, resulting in a total of seven years encompassing academic studies and clinical training.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research oversees and regulates Egypt’s medical education system. Eligible candidates, who have passed 10+2 grades or an equivalent qualification, can apply to Egyptian Medical Universities. The Bachelor’s in Medical Education comprises three parts: Pre-Clinical, Clinical, and Internship.

In Egypt, the path to becoming a doctor typically involves the following stages:

1. Internship: Upon graduating from medical school, individuals undertake a two-year internship program at a hospital affiliated with the Medical University. This period provides practical instruction and hands-on experience in their chosen specialty.
2. Residency: Following the internship, graduates have the option to apply for a residency program in their preferred medical specialty. These programs typically last between three to five years and offer further training and clinical experience.
3. Specialization: Graduates may pursue specialization programs to become specialists in specific branches of medicine after completing their residency.
