ParticipantFrom my experience, version control problems usually begin when multiple teams are working from different drawing sets or project updates are not communicated consistently. Even a small design revision can create confusion if older shop drawing services remain in circulation. A structured revision process, clear drawing numbering, documented revision history, and a centralized document management system have been the most effective ways to keep everyone working from the latest information. Regular coordination meetings before issuing revised drawings also help reduce misunderstandings between disciplines and avoid unnecessary rework.
I’m interested in learning how other professionals manage this on their projects. What workflows, document control practices, or collaboration tools have you found most effective for preventing version control issues in shop drawings, especially on large multidisciplinary projects?
