RISHIKESH, INDIA – Aananda Yog, a Yoga Alliance USA-accredited yoga school in the foothills of the Himalayas, today announced the continuation of its flagship 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) program, with new sessions opening on the 1st of every month. Each course runs for 24 days, concluding with a graduation ceremony on the 24th, and gives students from around the world an immersive path toward internationally recognized yoga teacher certification.
Held in Rishikesh – long regarded as the “Yoga Capital of the World” – the training takes place beside the sacred Ganga river, where the natural rhythm of the mountains and the river is woven directly into daily practice.
According to Aananda Yog, the course is built to take participants through “a powerful shift in life – physically, mentally, and spiritually,” combining group learning, hands-on practice, and personal sadhna (spiritual discipline) so that students develop techniques that are authentic, individualized, and clear in their own teaching voice.
“A solid yoga practice connects you to the roots of yoga,” the school notes of its approach. Rather than treating the 200-hour certification as an endpoint, Aananda Yog frames it as the foundation for a teacher’s ongoing evolution.
This entry point allows graduates to register as a Yoga Alliance USA Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200), teach internationally, and later pursue the school’s 300-hour and 500-hour advanced trainings.

Comfortable, Yogi-Friendly Accommodation
Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas beside the Ganga, Aananda Yog’s accommodation is designed to support what the school calls the “would-be true yogi.” Every student is provided a private or shared room with free Wi-Fi, private and clean washrooms with 24/7 hot running water, comfortable mattresses, and window blinds for restful sleep.
The school describes its philosophy as “ancient wisdom, modern comfort” — pairing traditional teaching with cozy, well-appointed rooms that overlook the river and surrounding hills.
Sattvic Food, Crafted for Mind and Body
Aananda Yog operates an in-house sattvic kitchen, noting that “whatever we eat can affect our mental and physical body.” The kitchen staff prepare fresh, nutritious Indian dishes — including Ayurvedic khichdi, rotis, multi-flavoured rice, biryani, dahls, idlis, dalia, poha, and mixed-vegetable paranthas — sourced from local village organic vendors. Students also enjoy the school’s signature Indian masala chai, made with ginger, cardamom, clove, cinnamon, and turmeric.
Immersion Beyond the Mat
Beyond daily classes, students are invited to explore Rishikesh itself — a destination the school calls “a spiritual sanctuary offering an ideal setting for your transformative yoga journey.”
Optional excursions include the nightly Ganga Aarti ceremony at Triveni Ghat, Sai Ghat, and Parmarth Niketan Ashram; visits to the Neer Garh, Patna, and other waterfalls around Rishikesh; a trip to the historic Beatles Ashram and its 84 cottages, once a spiritual destination for travelers from Britain; sound healing workshops featuring traditional singing bowls; white-water rafting on the Ganga; and a wildlife safari through Rajaji National Park.
Led by Experienced, Certified Faculty
The program is led by Aananda Yog founder Dharmraj Ji, a certified yoga and meditation trainer who frames the school’s philosophy around the deeper meaning of retreat: “withdrawing or pulling back the senses from ignorance (maya) and realizing the true, non-dual nature of Rishikesh (master of all senses) as one’s conscious self.”
He leads a team of specialized, certified instructors, including Mohit Ji (Pranayama Yoga Trainer), Anuraj Ji (Ashtanga Yoga Trainer), Abhishek Ji (Meditation Yoga Trainer), Anil Rayal Ji (Anatomy and Physiotherapy), and Ritu (Yoga Philosophy Trainer). Past students have praised the faculty’s ability to adapt teaching to each practitioner’s fitness level and health needs.

Each 200-Hour YTT course begins on the 1st of the month and concludes on the 24th, with new sessions confirmed for upcoming months. Students are asked to arrive on the 1st for the program’s opening fire ceremony, wearing white clothing as a symbol of purification, and to plan departure after the graduation ceremony on the 24th (students wishing to extend their stay are encouraged to email the school in advance to arrange accommodation).
