Manipal University College Malaysia

Established in 1997, Manipal University College Malaysia (MUCM) is a private medical institution affiliated with the Manipal Group. Apart from its Melaka campus, MUCM has off-campuses in Mangalore, Bangalore, Dubai (UAE), and Melaka (Malaysia). Over the past 25 years, the Melaka campus has established itself as a bastion of medical education and academic excellence, boasting access to more than 1000 patient beds.

Under the aegis of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), also known as Manipal University, MUCM offers over 350 undergraduate and postgraduate courses across 31 disciplines, including Animation, Engineering, Science, Pharmacy, Nursing, Commerce, Management, Design, Humanities, Media & Communications, and Culinary Arts.

The MBBS program in Malaysia spans 10 semesters, with the first four semesters covering Pre-Clinical Subjects and the subsequent semesters focusing on Clinical Subjects. Students gain practical experience through bedside teaching at partner teaching hospitals.

With a world ranking of 5879th and a country ranking in Malaysia at the 47th position, Manipal University College Malaysia is held in high regard. However, a notable drawback of pursuing an MBBS degree in Malaysia is the absence of internship opportunities. According to NMC guidelines, completion of an MBBS degree from abroad requires six years of training, including one year of internship.

It’s important to note that most medical universities in Malaysia are privately owned. As per new NMC guidelines, completion of MBBS requires five years of study followed by one year of internship. However, internship opportunities are not available in Malaysia, rendering students ineligible for the NEXT exam, precluding Indian Medical PG or practicing license.
