The pursuit of a medical postgraduate (PG) degree in the USA via the USMLE pathway is increasingly appealing to Indian students, given the challenges associated with obtaining PG positions in India, especially with the introduction of NEXT. Many students in India are drawn to USMLE preparation from their first year of MBBS onwards, as it aligns well with the new NMC Competency-based curriculum. The US healthcare system is renowned globally for several reasons, including its high rewards, top-notch infrastructure, merit-based assessment, and abundant opportunities for specialization in super specialties.

Numerous countries are endeavoring to emulate the US healthcare assessment system for their medical graduates, which is divided into three parts: USMLE Step 1, typically taken after the second year of medical school; USMLE Step 2 CK, completed during internship; and Step 3 during medical residency (Medical PG). The USMLE is administered as an online exam and can be taken at PROMETRIC centers located across India.
