The USMLE consists of three steps:
- USMLE Step 1: Evaluates basic science knowledge and principles.
- USMLE Step 2 CK (Clinical Knowledge): Assesses the application of medical expertise in patient care.
- USMLE Step 3: The final assessment for physicians assuming independent responsibility in delivering medical care.
Prometric test centers, situated in major cities worldwide, provide the opportunity to take USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK. However, USMLE Step 3 must be taken within the United States.
Required Documents for the Exam:
- USMLE Scheduling Permission
- A valid government-issued photo ID, preferably a passport
USMLE Attempts: The number of exam attempts has been reduced from six to four for each USMLE Step.
