Vauxhall, the British brand of Stellantis, has recently revealed its new Vivaro and Vivaro Electric vans, which are set to hit the market in 2023. The new models promise to offer more choice, practicality, and efficiency than ever before, as well as zero-emission driving with the Vivaro Electric. Here are some of the key features and facts about the new Vauxhall Vivaro and Vivaro Electric:
The new Vivaro and Vivaro Electric share the same exterior design based on the third-generation Vivaro launched in 2019. The vans are compact and dynamic, with a prominent grille, LED headlights, and a roof spoiler. The Vivaro Electric can be distinguished by its blue accents and badges and its charging port on the front bumper.
The new Vivaro and Vauxhall Vivaro Electric are available in two wheelbase lengths: L1 (4.95 meters) and L2 (5.30 meters). Both versions have a single roof height of 1.90 meters, which makes them suitable for urban driving and parking. The load volume ranges from 5.1 to 6.6 cubic meters, depending on the wheelbase and the configuration of the seats and bulkhead. The maximum payload is 1,226 kg for the Vivaro Electric and 1,405 kg for the Vivaro diesel.
The new Vivaro and Vivaro Electric offer different powertrain options to suit different needs and preferences. The Vivaro Electric is powered by a 100 kW (136 hp) electric motor that delivers 260 Nm of torque. The motor is paired with a single-speed automatic transmission and a front-wheel drive system. The Vivaro Electric has a choice of two battery sizes: 50 kWh or 75 kWh, which provide a range of up to 143 miles or 205 miles, respectively, according to the WLTP test cycle. The batteries can be recharged to 80% in 30 minutes or 45 minutes, respectively, using a 100 kW public charger. Alternatively, the batteries can be charged overnight using a 7.4 kW or an optional 11 kW on-board charger.
The Vivaro diesel is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces either 120 hp, 150 hp, or 180 hp, depending on the trim level. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional eight-speed automatic gearbox, and also features a front-wheel drive system. The Vivaro diesel has a fuel consumption of up to 47.9 mpg and a CO2 emission of as low as 155 g/km, according to the WLTP test cycle. The Vivaro diesel can tow up to 2,500 kg, which is 25% more than the previous generation.
The new Vivaro and Vivaro Electric are equipped with a range of technology and safety features that enhance the driving experience and protect the occupants and the cargo. The vans feature a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a wireless smartphone charging pad. The vans also have a head-up display, a rear-view camera, and a digital rear-view mirror that provides a clear view of the road behind, even when the load area is fully packed.
The new Vivaro and Vivaro Electric also come with Vauxhall Connect, a safety and security system that includes emergency call, breakdown call, and vehicle status monitoring. The vans also have a number of driver assistance systems, such as lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, blind spot alert, adaptive cruise control, and forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking.
The new Vivaro and Vivaro Electric are available in three trim levels: Prime, Pro, and GS. The Prime trim is the most basic and affordable option, while the Pro trim adds more comfort and convenience features, such as air conditioning, rear parking sensors, and electric folding mirrors. The GS trim is the sportiest and most premium option, featuring a body kit, 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, and a panoramic roof.
The new Vivaro and Vauxhall Vivaro Electric prices start from $37,800 for the Vivaro Prime L1 diesel and go up to $58,200 for the Vivaro GS L2 Electric. The prices include the value-added tax (VAT) and the plug-in vehicle grant (PIVG) of $6,750 for the Vivaro Electric.
