The chicken quesadillas are an interesting meal that incorporates tender chicken, cheese that has melted in between two tortillas. It is best served as a weeknight supper and can also make a filling snack. Because of its simple preparation process and the use of basic products, people will be delighted at the result of the meal. Well, let me tell you much more about making the perfect chicken quesadilla!
Chicken: Before cooking, the chopped chicken can be seasoned with spices in order to add more taste.
Tortillas: Using flour tortilla offers a softer texture though one can use corn tortilla for a gluten free meal.
Cheese Variations: You can try the pepper jack cheese to taste a little bit hotter or mozzarella for a milder sauce.
Vegetable Additions: You may also sauté the onions with spinach or mushroom for a healthier and more flavorful dish.
Storage: Any quesadilla left will last in the refrigerator for three days, provided they are refrigerated in an airtight container.
Prepare the Chicken Mixture: Place shredded chicken in a bowl and add cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper. Stir until the chicken is coated with the spices.
Heat the Pan: Turn the heat onto medium and warm up a big pan and pour in one tablespoon of olive oil. Otherwise let it heat for some one minute, only so that ingredients will be well incorporated.
Assemble the Quesadilla: This recipe uses one tortilla; therefore, put one tortilla on the skillet. Place the chicken mixture on one half of the tortilla applying half of the mixture. Then, on top of the chicken, cover half of this shredded cheese.
Fold and Cook: When I am done preparing the refried beans and placing them on the tortilla, I make sure to fold it in half carefully. Press it down lightly with a spatula. For about 3–4 minutes cook until the bottom surface is dark brownish in color.
Flip and Finish Cooking: Using spatula turn the quesadilla over and continue cooking it for 3-4 minutes until both sides are crispy and brown and the cheese has melted.
Repeat: Take out the cooked quesadilla from the skillet and put it on a chopping board. Follow steps 3–5 with the leftovers of the tortillas and filling.
Slice and Serve: Let the quesadillas sit for 5 minutes before you cut each of them into five wedges. You can then warm it up before serving and take with any choice dipping sauces.
Spicy Kick: You can also include chopped jalapenos in your chicken mixture, or any hot sauce of your preference.
Herb Infusion: Try refreshers like cilantro or parsley, to add some freshness to your filling mixture.
Grilled Option: If you prefer your food with a little smoke add some grilling and fewer fry your quesadillas in the skillet.
Cheese Blend: It’s also recommended to try using more than one kind of cheese like Gouda or Feta.
Make it Vegetarian: In place of chicken, black beans can be used or instead of the chicken one can grill vegetables of your choice and make it a vegetarian dish.
