With different requirements across various locations, numerous types of barriers have been designed and developed. These barriers differ based on size, manufacturing materials, strength, and location. Preliminary, four types of crowd barrier in UAE are used. The first one is the metal barriers. It is primarily used and made of steel. Additionally, it features an interlocking system for creating longer lines. The second one is retractable belt barriers, which are mainly used in indoor setups and feature retractable belts to guide pedestrian traffic. The third is plastic barriers, it is lighter and highly portable. These barriers are quite helpful in delineating paths at zebra crossings or turns. The last most used is police barriers. It is a highly specific type of crowd controller used by law enforcement to manage crowds at public gatherings and protests.
